The cover was standard on all fuelled by Tractor Vaporising Oil,
it does keep the manifold hot to assist with the vaporisation of
the TVO, I don't think the petrol or diesel versions had this.
Was TVO not used in Australia?

I have never heard of TVO but I am by no means an expert on
Fergys.
I just happen to have one for slashing and a bit of grading.
We have a "love / hate " relationship. It hates me and I love it
It has tried to kill me on two occaisions (both my fault) They
can bloody dangerous on hills.
AFAIK all the grey fergys bought into Australia were petrol. We
didnt get diesels until the red ones came out and I believe they
were "Massey Fergusons".
Cheers
Alan

TVO was a parafin based fuel, less duty to pay and probably
cheaper to produce and more readily available after WII.
Now no longer available so we make our own from dom28 heating
oil petrol and a bit of Reddex.
Start the engine on petrol then once the engine has warmed a bit
switch to TVO then switch back to petrol shortly before stopping
the engine.
TVO gives lovely smelling exhaust fumes. >rock<

That is a tidy little Fergie Ashcorft, and a credit to your
Father; but I must confess that my eyes are drawn rather more to
the Deere Model R in the back ground. I am a closet fan of big
American two-cylinder tractors.
