2.25 glow plug Conversion

Hello
I did the glow plug conversion the other year, to the plugs that
don't need the resistor, and no longer uses the curly plugs.
I have needed to give the engine 30 seconds of heat with these
plugs, is that due to them not being a name brand plug?
Anyway used the land rover the other day to fetch a lump of a
steel roll, lol did a sterling job, put her away, went back two
days later to get her out, and she failed to start, I took a
bit of looking at her recently, and found none of the glow plugs
are getting warm, yet they have battery voltage. Is it not a
bit strange how all of them seem to have gone tits up?
I was going to just buy 4 new ones to try, but they only sell
the conversion kit, not the indervidual plugs, I know it is only
a few wires, but how silly.
Added to this, I fail to understand why 4 plugs manage to go at
once?
Any idea's appreciated.

Bonjour,
Can be simple really as they could all be the same age and have
now taken more current to operate after you've converted the
system so they'd died together...
Is there 12 volt on the plugs ?

There is battery voltage there, so just over 12v yes.

What's the voltage at the battery, Edwin?...Does it match the
plugs?
You really need to be at the thick-end of 12v to boot a diesel
and if you're pumping lots of juice to plugs which have goosed
it, you'll be draining a battery which ought to be able to do
the business with only slightly warmed plugs.

Yes slightly more than 12v as per a good battery, I can't
remember the figure but remember thinking that's healthy. Same
as it says on the battery more or less anyway.
So I will just buy some more plugs to try, what do people
recommend, anyone have a type or code so I can just order the
plugs not the kit again?

Champion AG45 were the originals.
If you've got 12v hitting yours and nothing's happening, then
your plugs are shot. They only need 6-7 volts max with 30-odd
amps behind them.
New ones it is.

Will they fit the 2.25 that originally had the pig tail type
plugs in, as they have a different thread I am told to the later
2.25's?
Edit:- I take it Champion AG45 are the pig tail variety,
according to my parts man? What are the probe end parallel
wired equivlant?

That, I couldn't say, Edwin.The 2.25 diesels I've had in the
past have always remained standard.
Less exotica has always eased a later sale to somebody who may
not be too techno'd.

Are you still running them through the ballast resistor? If you
are bypass it as the later plugs do not need it and they will
work mucho bettero.

No they bypass the resistor, hence why I am scared of getting
the wrong plugs, and blowing the new ones.
