Faulty new clutch master cylinder?

Thank heavens I cant find my stuffin lump hammer :banghead
Replaced both the clutch master & slave cylinders on the s3
yesterday with Lucas parts & now Ive come to bleed the thing, it
seems the brand new master is blocked with no fluid leaving the
cylinder. Took off the single outlet pipe on the master & its
bone dry with not a drop going to the slave.
Really peeved as Paddocks etc are closed & landy is booked in
for a new exhaust on Tuesday :smiley-furious:
Could this in any wierd way be an air issue or is the thing
really stuffed?

take it apart and check it as i ve had a friday afternoon one as
well which had a load of swarf from machining still in it and it
machined badly so it had a tight spot and would nt return. Best
to get a replacement. :smiley-furious:

Was tempted to open it up but then Paddocks would probably
refuse to exchange if it was not just a simple blockage.

A mate popped in who did some time as an old school recovery
man. He held his finger over the master cylinder outlet & told
me to pump like hell And then...........success! Fluid came thru
& its now nicely bled with a good old calf developing pedal feel
to it!
And yes, the fluid squirted all over
So apologies to Lucas for twatting their good name & I admit to
being a hydraulic dickhead ;D

Hope you have better service life than me. I replaced master,
slave and flex pipe and all needed doing again within 18 months.
Now master is leaking again. And yes always new clean fluid used
along with OE parts.

I've questioned the quality of "genuine" Lucas hydraulics in
recently after having a wheel cylinder fail in under 2 years on
the 109. Since that point I've gone with Lockheed Delphi and
touch wood have not had a problem on anything since.
