i saw this about a year ago and wondered how hard it would be to
make one , i think i would have it opening the other way ie from
the back
because wind and rain resistance etc

Seen these before, and I was considering making one, before the
Carawagon(s) came along :thumbs:
As far as I recall, from the brochures and tech info I saw, the
bed base is in sections, so you can stand up inside the vehicle
on one side at the 'high' end.
I would have built it the other way round, do you can stand up
at the back. However, I know why it's that way round - it's
because more strengthening would be needed above the screen for
the hinges.
Once the base is made up you have to climb in through the
door/window in the tent, unless you were particularly skinny and
nubile :rolleye0012: when I suppose you could try to slide the
bed panels in place while while trying to sit on it :-?
Looks fairly easy to make :thumbs:

i think they had it opening at the front so you could just hop
up on the bonnet, i would love to see one or get some pictures
of those hinges :thumbs:

I looked at doing one on my old 109 that hinged at the front
using a spare safari roof- very doable conversion I reckon :-?

There was one like that at the swiss do a couple of years ago,
not sure if anyone got any pics of it though

that's it i will definitely have a bash , i am going to take out
one of the bench seats in the back of our swb an replace it with
a cooker/sink cabinet and we are going to put our roof tent on
the back of our trailer ,it just left where the 2 kids were
going to sleep and i think this has answered the question
