I insured my 88 with 2.5td conversion for £97 with Heritage
       which seemed reasonable

Heritage quoted more ££ than FJ and same set up, can't offer
3rd party cover to drive other vehicles on a classic car policy
       any more.

Pray tell, exactly what does this mean? What, exactly, do they
cover? As far as I'm aware, what we know as green lanes are
public rights of way for motor vehicles and the same laws apply
to these as to the rest of the road network. So if you're
insured to drive on the regular roads then you're insured for
       so-called green lanes.
I have never been insured to drive other people's motors on my
FJ insurance and I've been with them for over 8 years now. Mind
you, they were trying to rob me at the last renewal in January
this year. The renewal letter quoted £279 so I phoned them up
and said that this was unnaceptable and a drastic increase over
last year's premium. The explanation that I was given was
basically that there have been a lot more claims so premiums are
       increasing all-round.
I politely told the woman that I had not claimed, EVER, so I was
not going to pay for someone else's claims and unless she gave
me a cheaper quote I would take my business elsewhere.
Funnily enough she came up with one for just £152. Now I did
tell her that there was only ONE motor, instead of two, this
time but when I added the other it was only an extra £20 or so
for an "admin" fee. This loss of one motor from the policy does
not account for the near £130 drop in quoted premium so the only
reason I can think of is that the original one was a figure
plucked out of the air in order to see just how much they could
       extort from me.

i'm moving to RH from FJ, two motors, fully comp, unlimited
miles, engine swaps declared and 3rd party cover whilst driving
other vehicles, i believe with the facility of adding a third
       motor
total cost £1.50 more than FJ was offering me this year without
       the 3rd party cover
another one to try is ClassicLine, found this by accident but
£35 more expensive, the thing i like about them is they'll
tailor your insurance to your requirements and make the extra
effort to find a policy to suit you, they cover big old yanks,
classic brits, modified, all sorts and do cover for track days
       if that's your thing
only two brokers that i found in half a day that give all that
AND allow for them to be daily drivers rather than second/hobby
       vehicles

performance direct for my 109, 76 quid a year full comp with
4000 limited mileage. Thought that was pretty reasonable!

I switch from FJ to Peter James this year, the James in the
old FJ team, same service that FJ used to offer.
