FJ Insurance Renewal

So Footman James sent through my renewal stuff for my swb.
Premium slightly higher at £177 but not dramatically so.
Acceptable thought I until I read it through and found they can
no longer offer third party cover for the policyholder to drive
other vehicles and had removed from policy wording the previous
year :wanker: . This proved more of an issue and a call to them
confirmed that this is no longer possible on a classic vehicle
policy. To be honest it was out of character for me to read
through such things and would assume that things would have stay
the same from the previous year. Not so it turns out.
I am sure many of you fine folks also use FJ and may miss this
snippet of information so have a good read of renewal guff when
it comes.
Cue phone call to Adrian Flux. 12000 miles a year, uk and
european cover, legal cover, swmbo included on policy (not sure
how good an idea that is) and third party cover for other
vehicles not owned by blah, blah, blah for a significantly
lesser £150. Covered for greenlaning too :thumbs: .

The gist of your post is so similar to others on classic car
forums that I'm seriously wondering how long it will take for FJ
to wake up or go bust. They used to be great, but for the last
couple of years have just been taking the piss.

at the end of the month, looks like I may be shopping around

i have had various policies with them over 20 years without a
break and this year we finally parted company. Lancaster
insurance was a £1 for every inch of the chassis, FJ were more
than double. After saying that I have always had great service
from them.

Maybe FJ are going on all the customers that once had to deal
with Adrian Flux other than paying them money......
I and a few others of other forai have had some less than
reasonable experiences with Flux and co. They also wanted over
twice the price to insure mine over FJ.

Have had a similar experience recently. I have a multi vehicle
policy and was informed that they won't cover engine conversions
with more thank 20% power increase on a classic policy

I am insured with the co-op. After having an overtired on call
doctor pull out and run in the side of me at a juntion, they
took literally 15 minuits to resolve the claim (in the exact
words of the call center assitant "ha, that will teach him to
pullout on a proper car" as he discovered the doc beemer was a
right off) On the whole found them good apart from the
contradictiv wording on the policy documents. One of the
documents says that I am entitled to drive other cars not
belonging to me with owners permission up to third party cover
and another document says that I am not. Also when i called them
to enquire about putting a 2.5TD in my land rover, I was given a
very reasonable quote. on phoneing up on the weekend of the
engine swap to enquire if the quote was still valid before I
began, I was told that i would not be covered and had been told
wrong.

Not just cars, they have been buggering up steam policies,
putting a no drivers under 21 clause, no cover unless you are a
member of a certain club and higher premiums on top.
I understand they were taken over a while ago by one of the big
names? My 80 is with them but will be looking elsewhere when
renewals are up.

I had always insured with Peter Best (who were very good) for
years and years, but only went to FJ a couple of years ago for
overseas breakdown recovery that is free with the policy.
