Are there any indications it was ever fitted with anti-roll
bars? (Sway bars?)

I don't think it spent a whole lot of time here.
The rubber things are called "Aeon" dampners, and from what I
have read, are to help in bottoming out when having extra
weight.
I also found additional holes near the windscreen hinges that I
assume may have been for additional hinges for the pull up metal
grate for driver protection. Others under the hood too.
I am new to Series, so that are lots of things that lot unusual
to me. Also found some welded on angle iron to the frame under
the front door area. I'll get some pictures of that soon and
look for other things on the undercarriage.

Doug - I have just googled the patent number and come to a forum
for, of all things, tuned Chevy Corvairs and a topic on these
rubber cones. From reading posts on there, it seems to suggest
the purpose of the Aeon dampers was to eliminate the need for
sway bars, by affecting the spring rate during dynamic
compression. A most interesting bit of engineering!

Some ex NI makrolon fitted vehicles were i beleive also fitted
with dual screen wash pumps ....one to pump white spirit to
clean paint from the screen after paint bombs were thrown .
Mine shows no evidence ....though it is liberally sprinkled with
extra holes .

Mistericeman,
Very nice looking motor and ideas for more things to look for.
Supposed to rain today, so I may not have time to crawl around
outside. Some of us Southern Californians melt in the rain.
