Caught this on T'Beeb the other night ...

I saw that, top program and Friday evening a bright yellow one
spent 20 minutes circling my field before going in to St Mawgan.
Privitising the Air/Sea rescue service? An utter disgrace!

I'm all for the being sentimental about old British forces kit
(or American as they were a licensed version of the 50s Sikorsky
design with a Rolls Royce engine) but having flown in a few they
are 50s relics now.
50/60s relics works for us trucking around in our Landys but for
day to day 'stress' environments a nice shiney new heli would be
my preference! Now more gaffer tape holding bits together; Just
my HO.

Fair point ...
However i still have a soft spot for "old" kit ... especially
old kit that CAN be held together with gaffa tape :thumbs:

I flew in quite a few Puma's that had the interiors held
together by gaffa tape - and complete with holes in the roof
where rifles had gone through during rushed entry and exits!

Missed it as I'v been away with work but in Iraq and Afghan the
only heli's I'v flown in are Royal Navy Sea Kings, the RAF where
like "oh no we cant do that, you've not gone through the correct
procedure and we're far too busy" RN overheard as the worked in
the same office and were like "yer we do it, just say the time
ya wanna go"

Fair point; I have come in good and sideways with shitty weather
etc with the RN when the RAF wouldn't bother looking out the
window :loser:
Their skills for landing on a moving/pitching target is nails!

Big up to the RN pilots too. RAF tend to be a bit "jobsworth" in
my experience. ......the look on the blokes face when my mate
asked "to speak to the Driver" was priceless :-)
