Very neat!
I had the same idea for the Carawagon's LPG tank, but I would
lose storage due to the adapted rear tub... still not sure!

Got some more done on the LPG today,
Started adding to the engine bay, checked over the vaporiser,
the coolant fittings were only in by a couple of threads, mainly
due to corrosion, so I cleaned those up

Vaporiser in place needs some more plumbing doing:

Did some interior work too,
The under seat battery tray turned out to be the tray that
belongs in the middle of the seat box, the only photo i have
when it was under the passenger seat is this one:

Used Riv-nuts so it’s easily removable.

Few things been done to it since the last update,
Fitted an electric winch,
Started with standard bumper, the cut out for fairlead rollers
is surrounded by 1" box to compensate. The whole bumper is
reinforced with multiple vertical sections of box to prevent
crushing of the channel. The winch sits on angle section welded
to the underside of the bumper, and has diagonal struts from the
top of the vertical reinforcing sections of the bumper, down to
the back support of the winch to spread out any twisting force
the winch may apply to its mounts.

Started on a rear fuel tank, will put up pics of that when I
have made more progress.

Nice position for the LPG tank.
Did you need to mod the tub or box under the seat?
Any more pics and dimensions of the tank?
Need some inspiration for my setup as the petrol price is a bit
high :banghead

Thanks Mel, Yeah IL send it over after my week off is up, it
will only get wasted at work anyway, should be with you by
Monday morning :smilewide:
Nono,
I used a 90ltr tank, and had to do allot of cutting and
fabrication to make it fit, or rather, make the land rover fit
it.
Basically I cut off the tub outrigger, and cut a half circle
just bigger than the tank out of the tub. The circle top is dead
on just below the level of the back of the seat box if that
makes sense?
To secure the tub, I welded on a bracket from the chassis rail
upwards, and bolted that onto the tub. Ideally, I would like to
put a section of angle right across from where the tank cut out
is across to the other side cut out, Il probably do that when I
put the other tank on.
The other concern is the floor sill; I made a new one as per the
earlier photo's that is slightly thinner than the original as
this was also fouling the side of the tank.
I also had to cut part of the front panel of the seat box out,
and make a curved plate to cover and rivet on (don’t ask for
photos of that as it is still a work in progress :rolleye0012:
)
Using a smaller tank would be a lot easier. An 80ltr tank is
shorter so it wouldn’t need any seat box modification. A smaller
tank still would need less work, and one small enough to fit in
place of an auxiliary fuel tank would only need bracketing and
bolting on.
Putting such a tank in this place on a 109 is a lot of work,
that’s for sure.
Thing is, you have to think about what your application is. For
me it’s a daily drive, and weekends away on top of that, so LPG
was a no brainer, and thanks to Chippers for helping a tank my
way, and some advice from HHH and Tinley, it’s more than halved
my fuel bill!
Because of the mileage I do, and the long drive to get anywhere
a meet is because of living in the arse end of nowhere, I’m glad
I went to the effort of a 90ltr tank, bearing in mind it only
holds 72ltrs really.
What I have found is you either need an android phone with the
app from "fill lpg" or the POI files from "fill lpg" loading
onto your satnav, or plan your journey accordingly to make sure
you know where the next fill up is. A few times I have been
caught out with somewhere not being open, or not knowing where
else to get gas. Because of this I’m going to fit another 90ltr
tank to the other side and fit a rear tank for petrol. So it
will have 144ltrs of LPG and 15gallons of petrol potential in
reserve. And to be honest, if I can fit another tank, I will.
But yeah, go for it, I would recommend LPG, the cheapest place I
have come across so far was top of Manchester, 55p a litre! Like
Rob said, it makes it so much more useable!
I will get some pics of the identical tank for the other side,
and some more of the mounted tank if I remember tomorrow.

LPG is a bit more common here (Holland) so no need for aps to
find fillups.
As mine is a winter daily an will need to tow racing cars to
track during summer I think a big tank will be needed.
I had previously looked at Mounting it above the outrigger
behind the seat but could only find space for a 50 liter tank.
And that is a bit to little wagfinger
But seeing yours gave some inspiration
So might just have to buy a tank and get to it!

Forgot to mention its a single hole tank, the valve is at the
back end angled towards the nearside, I dont think a multihole
would fit. If you do its also worth making a mudsheild to
protect the valve from the rear wheel. If you need any more
info, just ask :)
On an unrelated note, after fitting a winch, I decided to
upgrade my batteries, and bigger batteries need a good frame. So
that was todays job. When i was not clearing fallen trees from
the drive n such :/

Iv got some rubber matting im going to line it with, and Il pick
up some wing nuts for the clamping bar tomorrow.
