The new to me S3 FFR

Following the Harry2a gets a 3 thread...
After a short Road trip to MikeLR109's place in Cornwall, few
pints in the blue anchor of helston, and a drive back, we got
her on the drive:

The back was slightly low, as pointed out by Mike the rear
spring was on the upper mounting:

So I changed it for the lower mounting, and this is what
happend:
Before:

After:

HTML http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz67/Harry_Cornwall/Series%203%20FFR/483_1296_zps890f4e07.jpg[/img]
So that sorted the ride height, the following friday took it up
to Hornsea for a fish an chip run:

Which was all good, very nice fish n chips, then we decided to
do some laning, which, err didnt go so well....

HTML http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz67/Harry_Cornwall/Series%203%20FFR/483_1328_zps8df31fc8.jpg[/img]
After alot of jacking, recovering, etc it looked like this:

HTML http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz67/Harry_Cornwall/Series%203%20FFR/DSC_0710_zps0048ba04.jpg[/img]
And thankfully a short while later, it looked like this:
HTML http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz67/Harry_Cornwall/Series%203%20FFR/DSC_0715_zps1bdffbd1.jpg[/img]
So a trip to morrisons jetwash was in order, (they are not very
happy with me now):

And that was the last time I took photos of it,
Been using it as a daily drive for the past 3 weeks, can’t say
fuel costs are very friendly at the moment, LPG looks to be on
the cards if it’s to continue being a daily drive.
Other than that its great, like it allot especially taking the
seat out to fill up, gets many puzzled expressions from all
around.
Quite fancy some reversing lights, thinking of getting some
white front sidelights and using those to keep in tone with the
military spec, unless they made military reversing lights?
More photos to come when I get round to taking some.

Not a bad looking motor you have there.
As for reversing lights, all the hard tops in my old unit hag
one or two work lights fitted, they are better than small lights
for reversing
just make sure to fit a warning light in the cab'

Years ago I had an ex military 2A LWB and yes the tank fillers
under the seats were a hoot.
Especially taking a passenger for the first time to a petrol
station, then asking them to get out and removing their seat to
fill up.
On one occasion the forecourt attendant didn't authorise the
pump, and came storming over to see what I was doing with the
filler hose inside the vehicle.

Is the warning light a legal thing pete? or is it so you dont
forget its on?
Already part fitted a rear work light for reversing, just needs
wiring up, some white reverse lights would be nice though, more
of a warning to others if nothing else, car parks and such.

ProDave,
This has the batterys under the passenger seat in place of the
secondary fuel tank, but the passenger still gets a shock when I
remove my seat and start filling up, yet to be refused fuel
though have had a few strange looks from the attendants, all
good fun :smile1

Dad takes up the story, sat at home, feet up, beer in hand
watching tele, phone goes, 10.30ish, dad i'm stuck, ok son where
are you, will come and get you.
On getting to him it was apparent in the dark, raining and mud
giving the somme a run for its money, i decided to leave the
landy till daylight and take the lads home, having to reverse
down a slippery muddy track and getting stuck, using my home
made winch to get us going again and finally when back on a
tarmac road, the local police stopped us for a chat !!! Back
home at 12.30 after dropping his despondant mud covered mates
off.
Next day with jacks, timber, waffle boards (after borrowing
HHH's on the christmas do, I decided to get my own) recovery
strops and anything else I could think I would need, we returned
to the stricken Landy, Harry has put the photo of it stuck,
after a 2 hour battle I recovered it using all the said gear and
my winch

So, Harry has learnt, Dont go laning on your own, in the dark,
on somme type mud, I have since made some more recovery gear

Its been tested and works !!
I could always rent it out for single furrow ploughing,
althought Harry did ok just using the Landy!!!!! rofl

Looks a good purchase! Nice wagon indeed. The only way an ex-MOD
motor should look 8) (well, ideally with a tilt)
