new weber but only getting 11 mpg

hi
ive recently had a weber carb fitted to my 1980 light weight ,
its still sluggish and only returns 11 to the gallon,
i read that a bloke bought a replacement carb (non weber) from
craddocks or paddocks and got over 20 mpg .
can any one give me any suggestions on what i need to do to get
better mpg please.

check your timing and carb should be ok dont automatically blame
the carb. introduce yourself and post in the right section

Hi. i never got much more than 12mpg with my weber. not sure if
the carb was at fault though.

Webber will run 22-24 ,mpg on a decent run no problem, even high
teens on short trips is normal.
If you are close o single figures, you have something wrong with
any carb ( exception maybe towing and slow hills/off road)

its a new carb so dunno why its still drinking fuel like it
does.
