ive just completed such a conversion on mine which included a
new fuse box and relays, a massive difference in light, i can
actually see it on the road now, and my sidelights are not
brighter than my dipped beam

       Hi there
Just about ready to wire up some H4 halogens. Can anyone tell me
where I wire the trigger wires for the low beam and high beam to
the relays. Is the light switch for the low beam or somewhere
else and also do I connect to the indicator stalk for the high
beam because that is where it is activated?
       Thanks

Best bet is to take two fused live feeds straight from the
       battery.
Out these onto the switched relay outputs and connect to your
       lights.
You can break into the wiring loom blue/red and blue/white wires
at the bullet connectors next to the battery.
Then use the blue/red dipped and blue/white main beam wires from
the stalk switch to switch your relays.
Use one relay for main and one for dipped.

       Hi Mark thanks for that.
I was just checking the wiring diagram/schematics out this
evening on the internet before your reply and noticed the two
wires you have mentioned coming from the stalk so I will do
       that.
I have separate fused leads from the battery to the relays (well
from a 6 way auxiliary fuse box I fitted fed by a 50amp maxi
fused wire from the battery. I fitted this last year for the
heated windscreens and electric fan which are also on separate
relays so I will pull the power for the light relays from this
       fuse box)
I have the separate relays for high and low beam wired up along
with fresh wiring going down to the new lights, I just wasn't
sure on the trigger wires and where they went to but I will take
a peak and locate the blue/red and blue/white tomorrow and pop
       them on pins 86 respectively.
       Many thanks Mark
       Ian

Good stuff, I've done same as you with fusebox too. Definately
the way to go, taking all the high power stuff away from the
       series fusebox.
The "trigger wires" should be somewhere around the
battery/steering arm area, I think as this is where the loom
       connectors are.
You can pick up a black neutral for the relays there too.

Hi thanks for the reply's all sorted.
Fresh wiring all round with relays to main and dip, Wipac H4's
       and new bowls.
Should the series side lights be on with dip beam and main beam,
mine go out when on low or high beam comes on and I cant
remember whether they stayed on before I did the lights??
Didn't mess with the existing wiring so cant see how I wrongly
       wired anything up.
       Thanks all

The side lights should stay on.
They are switched/fed separately to the dipped/main beam lights.
Are your tail lights on, as these are fed from the same feed as
       the sides.

       Hi Mark
       Thanks for the help.
All is well, I stuck the spade on the wrong terminal.
Took the liberty of fitting a closed switch buzzer in while I
was on so know when the side or main lights are on when the
       ignition is off.
So, one pair of 7" sealed beam going spare if anyone wants them,
Gratuit on collection or meet up around Denby Dale, Wakefield,
       Huddersfield. (Holmfirth - Alex?)
       Regards
       Ian
