       Nobody expects a Spanish Expedition!

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Team Faff ride again in Aug 2013.
The planning for this one is a bit behind as life seems to be
getting in the way quite a bit at the mo, but a rough plan has
formed and things look like happening now.
       The Plan (so far).
Three 80"s, the first and second best in Halifax ::) plus JAW
 to ferry out of Blighty and head south through France
to stay over night at my sisters place somewhere in the middle.
This will be a shortish leg for TF as its only about 500 miles
       or so avoiding tolls :rolleye0012:.
Early start next day (after dropping various kids bikes,
paddling pool and luggage off at my sis's place for use later by
my family) we head to the Pyrenees (entering about mid way
along). We will turn left along the mountains and make a run for
the Med through Andorra, this will be about 60%ish off road.
I am hoping this bit will take about a week :-?. We will be
camping rough mainly and getting lost quite a bit. I have read a
fair amount about other expeditions losing their way on the maze
of tracks with a lot better "Tech" than we will have. Also the
Spanish do not like more than 2 or 3 motors at a time, so we
will be keeping a low profile, like green laning ninjas.
This is a quote i found and shoved through Google Translate-
"A howl unheard us look up. A man from the farm road towards us
with one big stone in each hand. Madman, the man shouted
breathlessly and we made the gesture of throwing stones, telling
us to go back to the tarmac road that we had left the wooden
gate. We try to parley on the one hand, to prevent his throwing
stones and other know what was going on. Nothing to do. He yells
towards the farm and a young boy arrives with an ax in his belt.
The young man stands in front of the entrance to the variant
right hand on the ax, we blocking the passage. The man continued
his screaming and telling us to come down, it would prevent the
"guardia civil". He runs back to the farm with his tractor and a
CB radio. He rushes towards us with his tractor and is also at
the entrance of the track and communicates via radio? in which
he said that we were going down, is a description ..... Given
the violence of the situation (kids with us), we turn pursued by
man on his tractor. He seemed exasperated and rambling remarks
said that we had stayed the night before? Our friends and
ourselves were very shocked by the violence of the scene point
       weapons (stones and ax)."
       Sounds fun! :rolleye0012:
Once we have had a dip in the med, I am heading back up to my
sisters place to rendezvous with Kat and the kids for a week
messing about in France (the only way to justify the some of the
costs of this by combining it with a family holiday).
Thats the very rough plan (which will go pear shaped at some
point of the route) ,all of this will be done on the cheap just
like Euromadness a few years ago, what can go wrong... again?

Alex, if you are going that way you are welcome to pit stop via
mine- just inland from St Jean de Luz... Good coffee stop after
a couple hours of rolling form Bilbao.
Ditto to Vidal and the 3x 80s is f they swing a bit further
right on the way to the Pyrenees!
