THE LIST

This is my list for the jobs on the lightweight, seems a lot,
but some are in progress (chassis/engine), the end result should
be a working usable motor rather than a concourse shiny show
pony. End of may should do it, I,m lucky enough to do shiftwork,
plus have access to a workshop (when the foreman aint looking),
the roll bar will be made at work, as i,m not making it out of
tube, I,m using 150x100 box section.
Some bits may get replaced to help in the future, like the
lights. Funnily the main thing that i think will provide a
problem, is finding two high back seats with integral
seatbelts......at sensible money. rofl
Sand and paint chassis, repair two weak spots.
Rebuild engine, change worn bits from, spare engine, new valves
etc.
Fit electronic ignition,
Fit new fuel tank.
Check/rebuild axles with rangie diffs
Renew ALL brake components as well as pipes.
Renew gearstick
Check T-Box and refit.
Renew rad
Fit high back seats
Build and fit rollbar.
Upgrade windscreen wiper
Buy and fit bikini top
Buy and sore for winter, truck cab.
Any other little jobs.

I would recommend AGAINST using square profile for a roll
cage/bar. It folds, and WILL leave you with injuries. You're
better off with none. It's unpredictable under stress, and you
don't know which way it will crumple.

I,ll take the advice then. The problem is, I was speaking to a
fabridator, who was strongly in favour of box, and pointed out
all the other applications it is used for safety applications,
..forklifts, dumpers etc etc...so I was a bi swayed. the only
reason I want some form of overhead protection, is because of my
height, and the fact that i will be using it topless for a good
dal of time. Guess its save up for a proper one then :-?

I hear what you say about folklifts and such but things with box
section are mostly slow and more for low speed rolls and other
thing hitting it. Look at motor sport and find i roll cage made
from box section. Also the box section will not bend well and
kink. The main hoop of a roll bar or cage needs to be 1 peice no
welds. Im not just saying this. Im from a fabriction background
and know metal.
