Welding stainless with a mig

Has anyone had a go at welding stainless with a mig?, yes I know
that tig is better but I've got a mig set and for £27 I can get
a bottle of argon co2 mix (98/2% mix for the tech minded) and a
500g roll of wire.
Planning to mod my exhaust when the 200tdi goes in later this
month

Re connected the stainless exhaust on the boinger wagon where I
cut it off the scrapper :P Argon and stainless wire was pretty
easy (and my first time with a MIG ;D )

You wont need stainless wire, You can use your mig set-up with
bog standard welding wire, and C02.
Its worth noting that the weld will rust though, And it does
spred into the stainless a bit.
Luke's the man with the welding know-how, I belive.

The wire was going to be stainless, can't see the pinot of using
ss pipe and then have the joints rust out

I think, doing it by the book, you would use stainless wire,
with a teflon liner in the torch and pure argon. But if you
just want to glue it together then it'll work as is.

I welded a stainless battery tray into a Shilpa conversion seat
box about 20 years ago. DTV669T still exists, and the owner
assures me the battery box is still serviceable. I did it at
three in the morning, slightly pissed aswell. Looks like shit,
but strong. Like me.

If your doing stainless tube for an exhaust just get a roll of
stainless wire and use whatever gas you have, It will make no
difference, I presume you'll be sanding your welds off for a
decent job? If you don't get rid of the coking and coloring off
the welds they will still rust! When you weld stainless the
carbon comes to the surface and it will then rust if left, It
needs sanding off or use pickling acid. If you sand it use a new
disk, not one you've previously used on mild steel or it will
rust still.

A friend of mine has just made a stainless fairlead out of
welded pipe and he used stainless wire, but says you can get
away with argoshield instead of having to use pure argon
