range rover diffs & 200di?

Having a noisy back diff for some years now.
I am on the lookout for a better series or maybe a
range-rover/disco one.
as i do 99% on-road with my 200di series one 88 inch witch goes
around small dutch roundabouts in 3th gear and overdrive without
a hiccup .
I am wondering if range rover diffs would be to high geared for
my landrover to drive off.
Most of the time unloaded but sometimes with a 750kg caravan of
doom behind it.
All-ready have fitted a very good toro overdrive, i use 90% of
the time, just not in 1 & 2nd

I've towed fully loaded car transporter trailers (heavyweight
1970s trailer loaded with LWB & LWB Carawagon) with that setup
in heavyweight Carawagons - ok, very occasionally if setting off
up hill I have to set off in low box 2nd, but drop straight into
high 2nd once on the move.

You've got enough torque in that engine to handle such diffs,
Xander.
Save for the absence of the turbo, it's the engine which belongs
with that final drive. I just doubt you'll need the overdrive
much.

I have RR diffs, overdrive and 200tdi
As Drew says the overdrive pretty much becomes redundant save
for clear duel carriageway or motorway driving, but its nice its
there.
Towed my maggot up to LATP no problem.

i was setup with 200tdi, 3.54 diffs, 7.50 Deestones (now SAGs)
and an overdrive on my 88", towed up to 2.5ton behind it easily
up Hatton Hill in third and accellerating, loads of power
:smilewide:
3.54 AND overdrive is excellent for distance use as i calculated
my 88" would sip fuel to the tune of 36mpg if driven at
55-60mph, the engine is just spinning gently sniffing at the
fuel, the bonus is it reduces the racket in my truck cab
and on top of that you can get to be a real hooligan at
decidedly dodgy speeds rofl
