looks like i may have to get some new boots soon on CAC,
Now ( & this may put me in the EFB ) she came to me with silver
modulars on supporting 4 235/85/16 colways, anyway my colways
are giving up their tread rapidly & unevenly to the point where
i think the next MOT they will be bald. Much as they make me
look like a fudge packer i cannot afford to buy new wheels as
well so i am looking for reccomendations for tyres in this size
I have heard many good things about bf goodridge all terrains,
particularly as to how well they ware on the tarmac, & given
that my current tyres are a copy of this tread pattern i am
happy with their offroad performance too. However I have also
been told good things about a more modern looking cooper all
terrain that is supposed to be just as good for on roadware but
offer improved grip offroad. has anyone tried these?
Has anyone got any further suggestions? most of my milage is
done on roads so i am keen to have something that does not
rapidly wear away on contact with tarmac but i do go
greenlaning quite regularly.

Perfectly happy with the ones we are using out here, although
the way we use them a set is just about done after 6 months /
70,000 km :eek: However that is about 70% on stony pistes, 20%
on sand and the remaining 10% highway, so I suppose that's
alright really.

I had kumo mt for several years outlasted my bf's and gripped
better in the wet

I had a set of those Insas and they looked good, and performed
good in the muck, but once they were slightly worn they got very
noisy and didn't wear very evenly.
BFGs are about the best out there. The new Michelin Duratracs
seem to do the biz and look somewhat like the old Trac Edge in
the narrower sizes like 235/85, the Coopers I have used have not
been as good and IMHO don't look as good either - not that many
modern patterns look 'right' on a Series. :-?
Trouble is they are all £££

When I was speaking to Glen I'm sure he said there was somebody
down Brum way selling Michelin Synchrone 7.50 take offs on wolf
rims for £300, might be worthwhile getting intouch with him?
Or I might just be making it up!

I don't actually think BFG's are that expensive really; ok, so
the inital outlay takes some convincing but compared to say a
General Grabarse they aren't that much more but the BFG's will
last forever (well a fucking long time) ,
I got a quote for a set of tires from the tyre man we used to
use at a former employers, and his advice was basically;
For an off roady tire with good road manners
BFG AT's - Topish range
Cooper AT's / General Grabarse AT's - Mid Range ( not that
their prices reflect it)
Re-Moulds - Mid to Low Range, but Insa's are what they are.
If you can strike a really good deal on General AT's they are
worth a look, Coopers; er no (I had some start delaminating once
and won't go near them now cos the company were cunts about it)
You gets what you pay/bargain for.......

I run on michelin xzy on the Dormobile and SLTs on the 88.
Both great tyres

Got a mix on wsl.
BFG Trac edge 7.50 on the front. Been on about 10yrs around 7mm
left on.
Insa traction track 235/85 on the rear (cheers Mr Scruff) been
about 18months I think? Around 7mm left.
The insa's are wearing quicker than the bfg's.
If you can find some bfg trac edges I'd get them.
