       fecking brakes...

I have a series 2 master cylinder that would not return so i
rebuilt it and the seal looked ok, now the pedal sometimes goes
to the floor. I am currently having to pump the pedal once then
i get a hard pedal half way down with good hard brakes. Front
shoes are really worn so il replace them this week as i cant
       adjust them.
Im assuming the seal is rubbish in the master cylinder and i do
have some new ones but il do the shoes first...does this seem a
sensible cause to the problem? ;D

If the drums are worn too then I found it very hard to get a
good pedal on first pump. All adjusters were on full. If its
hard after a pump then the seals must be ok? Or it would keep
sinking down I expect. New shoes and drums and now all adjusters
on about half way and only need quarter pedal travel to lock up!

Once you've got a hard pedal does it sink if you keep the
pressure on for say 30 seconds?

Your description is classic of brakes needing adjusting
As they are to worn to adjust, this is probably your problem
If you were alays getting a sinking pedal, that is a seal issue
If it "pumps up" and is hard on the second (or third) then its
       an adjustment issue

Held the pedal for a minute after pumping it up and its solid as
a rock no sinking. Il fit my new shoes and maybe some adjusters
       then see what happens.

if your old adjusters are fine, dont touch - the new ones are
shite (or all the ones ive managed to buy are)

Weld a nut to the top of the old rounded adjuster. Easy to
       adjust then ;D
