....just a short explanatory note to go with the pics.
ADV 999A is what's left of an October 1960 registered Series
II.....it appears to have had a rather sad past, and is now left
with what appears to be bugger all of the original!
The wings are definitely genuine...as is the seat box and the
one remaining SII seat. The chassis appears to be a very early
SIIa, as is the running gear. The engine is a very unoriginal
SIII 2 1/4 diesel with SIII xfer box and gearbox to match.
The bulkhead is a pretty scruffy SIII one and the windscreen is
late IIa or early III.
After stripping her down I've found that one of the front
dumb-irons needs a small patch, the driver's side bulkhead
outrigger needs replacing, the petrol tank outrigger needs a
tidy up and the rear of the chassis needs
replacing....thankfully it came with another rear end to weld on
:)
The brakes are going to need total replacement, as are all of
the hoses on the engine.....it'll also need a full wiring job as
it has fuck all at present!
I have a SII dash to go on to it, along with a SII front panel,
and the original vin plate....also I'm junking the truck cab and
will eventually put a tilt on it...I have a full set of
sticks.....and a less than full set of marbles....
......I'm currently cleaning up and re-assembling the first of
the rear leaf springs as it was just a large block of shit
encrusted rust when I got it...and is now 11 separate clean
leaves that have been painted a rather natty shade of red before
they are dry waxed up and rebuilt ;D

I did a double take when I saw the number plate! One of our
number used to have ADV 699A.
Nice project!

mine had the very same fred flintstone foot wells as you, but i
had plenty of 3mm zintec and fabbed some up out of that, which
are much stronger that the pre formed ones.

Looks like you have a lot of work cut out for you there!
Don't think you'll be making use of those seatbelts like that
though. :)

...seatbelts???....... ;D ;D ;D.....actually I'll not be fitting
any.....I'm of an age that, like my first ever motor (a B reg
mini), this 'un will not have seatbelts.....but I agree the old
ones on the tub are a little "unique" in fitment!!
...as for the footwells, I'll just grab some sheet and fold and
weld it in to roughly match....concours never was my style ;D
