       Waste of a day.

Well after me being all pissed off with my 109 and the shit 300
TDI it has / had, I had the crazy idea of going back to a 2.25
petrol until I can be arsed to strip it all down and rebuild the
thing next year / have funds. :lightblb: So this morning I set
about making the change, not too much to it as I left as much as
I could when I first converted it. All was going swimmingly up
until about 2 ish when I had the ball ache of trying to get the
thing to mate up with the gearbox. Struggled for a few hours
then it decided to go in. Great. Until we had it almost all
back together where I decided to see if it would run. All wired
up and tried the starter, clunk. Then nothing. Seemed like
engine was seized... Now to say I was in a foul mood with it
anyway was an understatement, but at that point I lost it.
After calming down a bit, tried to free it off on the crank
pulley and it went free. Tried the starter again and it seized.
Fuck it, down tools and call it a day. Its dark and ICBA to do
       any more.
Lesson to learn for the day - check you fit the right flywheel.
:WTF Turns out ive fitted the wrong one, the ring gear is
incorrect for the starter. What a plank. :banghead
To do it all again tomorrow! :giddy:
       Fun fun fun.
PS, just for hippydave, Flange flange flange . ha ha ha still
       works for me :loser:

I fitted the wrong clutch once, I needed it the next day.
I was so fucked off it got ragged out, sorted, and put back in
in 2 hours from running motor to running motor.
Chin up, we all make the mistakes...
       but
       rofl

I know il have something sorted before long. When I first fitted
the petrol engine 2 years ago I manage to fit the clutch
backwards. I felt a mong then as well.

Is this the engine out of Yorik? Why not use the fly wheel that
       it came with?

       Been there, done that.
Turns out boingy 2.5 petrol engines (and possibly boingy 2.25
petrols) have a different flywheel, starter and flywheel housing
and none of these items are compatible with series items.
Massively gay. Fortunately a hit squad came and helped me sort
it out and it was all done in a couple of hours!

^^^ I think that change came at the end of series 3 production,
March 1983 if I remember. Ended up getting the wrong starter
motor a while back hence I know. ::)
