       A Trip to Strata Florida
By: onfire Date: December 11, 2012, 3:00 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Hello,
Im new to the forum and, although not new to Land Rovers, I am
new to the experiences of rebuilding one as I bought a 1974 SWB,
in February 2011, which was in a bit of a state ... but more on
       that in a different thread!
I have shared my Dad's 1975 SWB up until now, and here are a few
pic's from last 2010's trip to Strata Florida - I hope you enjoy
       them:
It was our first trip to SF and we were quite full of
anticipation and excitement as we hoped we had chosen the
       correct lane at the start

We certainly had the right track, and fun it was too!

Luckily the river crossings were low, as we failed to heed the
advice of the First Overlanders who, in Tim Slessors book of the
same name, informed us that we should remove the fan belt before
river crossings to avoid spraying water over the electrics

       It got rockier
  HTML http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/xx63/onfire-photos/Off%20Road/P4240183-1.jpg
       then rockier again
  HTML http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/xx63/onfire-photos/Off%20Road/P4240194.jpg
       then rockier still
  HTML http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/xx63/onfire-photos/Off%20Road/P4240201.jpg
...and the drive home wasn't bad either

*Please forgive the Disco ... I tried to keep it out of the
       photo's!

That's a nice leafer and some great photos there. When abouts in
2010 were they taken? The Step is very different now, the recent
rains had changed it massively in the last 2 weeks alone. Really
must stop doing SF so regularly..... but then it is on the door
step, so it seems rude not to!

I'd be interested in a trek along SF, but deffo no deep
crossings for me, as last time I crossed deep water I destroyed
the engine (filled sump with dirty water).
Perhaps it's something for the summer, when it doesn't rain
quite as much...he said with a stupid grin on his face!
