Hundreds of holiday-makers watched the hunt of the Devon
and Somerset Staghounds which ended in the killing of a fully
grown stag on the sun strewn banks of a stream at Horner near
Minehead Somerset. For nearly three hours red-coated riders
chased the stag across heather-covered moorland and through deep
thickly wood coombs. With a small boy sitting beside it holding
on to the antlers the dead stag already loaded into a land rover
being driven away for butchering and distribution to hunt
supporters. August 1957
Cheers!
Still on the DVLA database, but untaxed since 1987 I seem to
recall.... I am going to send a V888 to DVLA, and ask them to
forward on a letter to the current keepers. I have a friend who
did this to locate his dad's old Austin Healey, and it worked
and they got in touch (the car was still on the road). I hold a
little doubt for whether I will be as fortunate, but I really
need to try ASAP!

Great pic Calum. I need to dig my folks' old photos suitcase out
the next time I visit them for some similar nostalgia. He had a
landrover of some sort every year from about '66 onwards so
there must be some photographic evidence.
Meanwhile here is a pic of someone elses from a random website
