Heater Series 3

Anyone any ideas where the resistor is that apparently changes
the heater motor from low to high as mine now only works at one
speed low ? The switch on the dash is OK. Also wipers work fine,
however, the washer has failed, again was working so will it be
the switch? *help*

Sometimes it's inside the snail, but then again sometimes on the
outside.

If you can hear your wash motor working when you press the
button, it's either the bottle is empty (sorry...patronizing
suggestion, I know), the feed pipe is detached or the jets are
blocked.
If you can't hear the wash motor then I'd check the whole wiring
line, which, if in-tact, is a fritzed motor or that particular
aspect on the switch.
The resistor for the heater speed control is inside the heater
box, which is under your bonnet, n/s. If you detach the
concertina'd tube, you ought to be able to see it. They have
quite small spade connections on-which wires are often soldered.
Cross wiring of the bullet connected wires which go to this
heater box (colours escape my memory) can result in single speed
running, regardless of where one has the switch. But if the
resistor is quite coked with verdigris, or a connection there
has spazzed, it'll give you grief.

What Drew says. But maybe just one of the connectors has come
off / de-soldered which gives the same effect. My resistor is
just above the hose where it connects to the fan blower with a
bit of rubber sheet covering it.

Sorry to drag this topic up but could some one tell me where the
operating switch for the heater is likely to be on a series 3?
I need to know this before I can check for power to heater
blower.
Many thanks
Ed

mine is at the bottom right hand side in-between the wiper
switch and clocks.

Thank you hippy Dave. Is it simply on or off or are there
settings? I will have to have a look today and see if I can
locate it.
