Whats best Rubber or Leather

;D
Just ordering seals for my front axle and can get the older
meatal/leather ones or more modern metal/rubber equivalents, any
advice on what is likely to keep back the drips longest?
I suspect things have moved on and that the modern rubber seals
(corteco not britcrap) will work better, but as it seems often
with land rovers they don't make em like they used to I would
ask first.

Personaly and this is only my opinion, I use the Leather seals
and soak them in EP90 for a day or so, before use!
The rubber seals will break up quite quickly if the "Lands" on
which the seals sit, are damaged/worn! The leather may last a
little longer, best to check/change the lands at the same time!
I also use "One Snot Grease"! I have leather gaiters fitted as
well!

Put a rubber seal in my front Diff about 2 years ago.
Now leaking quite badly!!!
Can't comment if a leather one would have been much better, but
the original one was leather (leaking!) and it was a B%^SGD to
take out.
Maybe I need to check my Lands!!

Baby oil does the job and very cheap, even better with rubber
sheets on the bed.

Hopefully not an egg sucking moment here, but the spacer ring
thingies that the seals run on need to be checked and possibly
replaced - they are only 30 bob or so each.

They are called Lands.
They are not replaceable on Series3 stub axles, though!
