       Series 3 gearbox

       Hi Guys
The gearbox in my 4 cylinder 109 is jumping 1st on over-run.
I have access to a gearbox from a 6 cylinder (by coincidence the
       same year of manufacture 1973)
My question is are they interchangable? If not what are the
       differences?
       Thanks in advance
       Cheers
       Alan (aka Bruce) :smilewide:

The bell housing is different and if the '6' is a 1ton the
internals are also different and alot slower

As above, however, if the suffixes are compatible, you can swap
bell housings (and some internals come with it as well)
       I did it on a series 2
       So it must be easy

Thanks Alex B and Cornish Cowboy.
As far as I can deduce both vehicles would have been CKD and
       assembled in Sydney.
I will check the numbers and go from there
       Thanks
       Alan
