English Electric generating sets,

My job took me to an anglian water pumping station on Heddon
road in hull today, and apart from the 10 enormous electric
pumps there was these two 1970's 1600kva gensets.

Mmmm, are they 2-smoke diesels by perchance? Our main engines
are Vee 16s iirc...

Are they 12CSVTs? Rhubarb would stand next to those and shout MY

They do indeed look they are 12csvt engines which of course
graced the Syphon / Tractor / 37. It seems a shame :( ( to me at
least ;-)) that these monstrous engines of sheer hellfire are
caged in a sewage farm :confused:
I would suggest that we go down there and give them the

We would have to hope there is a flood and they will get used
and we could hear the thrash!!

I'd have one of those to take to a Steam rally... that'll show
those sad blokes with the "ever so pointless" stationary
engines. I have in-Laws with them, and I fell embarrassed to go
speak to them if visiting the show. One of these would shake
their foundations, and power the show. What do they weigh?

AS for the weight I would say they are foookin heavy :smile1
