Nearly finished replacing the whole system, so no fluid anywhere
yet. I'll give that a try. Would gravity just do the same job
though? Just fill up and open a bleed nipple at a time.

Think I did mine one at a time. Just make sure you check the
fluid level in the can, as if you let it run dry you'll be
pumping air into the system which will be rather annoying for
       you.

Some folk do it that way. I have heard of folk hanging a bit of
wine tube from the roof (don't know how they seal it on the m/c
but not unlike attaching an eezibleed. I thought the bike tube
       was a good idea.
The easiest way to bleed brakes on any vehicle is the biker's
way - reverse bleeding... easier for one person too. That's what
i'll do on my landies... but rebuild is a way off at present.
On my cars i've always just put a drip tray down, opened the
bleed nipple and pumped a few times. Other way is use a stick
between the pedal and seat or where ever it can lodge.
But reverse bleeding is the easiest and i'm amazed landrover
didn't put it in the manual.

The inner-tube method is essentially the same principle as
       'Eezibleed' (or however it's spelt).
I use Eezibleed, and as the above poster says, I just open each
nipple in turn, sit on my arse and watch the fluid piss out for
a while, do the nipple up and move onto the next. None of this
pumping of peddle malarkey. At the risk of saying something
heretical; the Rog method is a right phaf. The 109's brakes are
now extremely effective; almost too effective really, if I stamp
on the peddle suddenly for some reason the wheels lock up.
Eezibleed is excellent; some people have issue with it but I
think that all stems from having too much air pressure behind
the fluid. If you use a spare-tyre as your pressure source, it
needs to be let right down to just a few psi. Anything more than
       that and you'll have problems.

Out of interest, what is 'reverse bleeding' ?

Gravity????? No, you still need to force the fluid to the bleed
nipples, if you leave it to gravity the top front wheel
cylinders will have a shit load of air in them if nothing else.
EDIT: you need to force the air to the bleed nipple, cos that
       WILL find places to hide!!
From a fresh new braking system you'll have the best chance to
get the brakes as good as they'll get if you bleed them right. (
what ever that means :) )

Agree on both highlights. Easibleed recon 20psi but the first
time I bled up from fresh new system I used about 16psi and the
brakes where epic. At that time I had s/s braided hoses but on
the realisation that you can't clamp those for future brake
problems I changed to standard hoses and I wish I hadn't to be
honest. Just me perhaps but I've never had the same braking
since going back to rubber hoses.
Having seen the modification done to FT's now redundant tls set
up I might be inclined to try that, but at hte same time go back
       to s/s braided hoses.
It may not be the done thing but bollocks to that! They've got
to be right, especially if you get used to modern brake
efficiency and hop into your leafer and expect to stop at a
critical moment and THEN remember its not the same - too fucking
late by then if luck isn't on your side.

You use a syringe (i use a 200ml) and a bit of windscreen washer
pipe on the slave bleed nipple and push the air up through the
master and out. Its a bit of a faff emptying out the reservior
before each slave and making sure all the air is out of the
clear plastic tube but its the easiest way I've found bleeding
       brakes on your tod.

In halfords(yeah I know :haha:) they sell a cheapo plastic pipe
with a non-return valve on the end makes it easy to bleed stuff
       on ya own ;D

Interesting Bob . I suppose you could syringe it out
the reservoir and inject it in the bleed nipple.

This is the way I bleed my hayes mountain bike brakes, it works
well on the bike, they are almost impossible to bleed the normal
       way.

Get a friend wife or passer buy to do the pedal bit while you
sit under opening and closing the nipples.....open nip..shout
"down" then close nip and shout "up" repeat till air is expelled
then move to next wheel.....its simple....worked on every land
rover and car i've ever had even the late landy with twin
leading shoes....can't get my head round whst the problem
is...some worn master cylinders will pull air on the upstroke so
bin it and fit a new one...most problems are caused by not
having the pedal linkage set so the master cylinder doesn't
recharge properly....landy brakes are barn door simple, no need
for all these strange kits and methords...just set it up and
       bleed it...
