Hello from North Alabama...

Hello everybody...I'm new to the Land Rover community. I
recently purchased an ex-mil left-hand drive Series III 109 with
canvas and pick-up cab on it. First on the list is to change
all the fluids including flushing brakelines. Then I will go
from that point on. I like it...I like it alot! Hoping to
learn from many of you who's been there and done that before.

Do you have your own teeth/shoes (Delete as appropriate), and
can you play the banjo? I only ask like...... :P 109s.... have
fun bleeding the brakes. :)

Hello Albert Ross...I lost the only two teeth I had when I fell
off the house trailer's front porch a couple of years ago.
Banjo...never could pick the strings but man can I play a mean
tune with spoons...

Thanks all for the warm welcome...I'm sure I will have lots of
questions as I get more involved with the 109. Today I changed
the oil and filter, lubed the u-joints and driveshaft slide.

Thanks Parksy64. I'm still trying to identify what I have and
still not postive its a ex-mod 109. After removing some of the
exterior paint on the fenders I noticed it has the air pressure
"25" stenciled on it. Under the hood it's has a label stating
OXB at the brake/clutch fluid resovoir and OMD labeled on the
oil bathe cleaner. Also, speedo is in KPH and its left hand
drive. The oil fill is a plastic screw on cap on the valve
cover. In the rear bulkhead there is a electrical connector.
The date of manufacture is 11/71 so I would think its a '72
model year. Any advice or comments welcomed...

{Anorak on}Writing the oil types on the reservoirs is certainly
an MoD/Army idea.Tyre pressures were usually painted on the
bodywork just above the tyre while LHD/Km would fit with a
vehicle built for BAOR ( British Army Of the Rhine). Any sign of
the contract plate on the bulkhead or seatbox ? Maybe just the
holes where it was rivetted on ? Other clues like multiple
layers of matt green that appear to have been applied by a blind
man with a yard-broom ?
...If you have the chassis number the guys on EMLRA will have
info and the Royal Logistic Corps Museum may well have a copy of
the vehicles service history - Mine is a similar vintage,
started out as LHD .... and had the card tucked away in the
museum (£25 for a copy). {Anorak Off}
