Underseat battery

At the moment the battery for Ralph is located in the rear load
bed in a unsecure wooden box :eek: so been thinking of moving
it to underneath the passenger seat, did give it a go last
weekend to see if it would just go straight in but clearly it
wouldn't so need to make space for it lower down, thinking back
to the Peterbog Bling show last month I saw YRM there and found
this on their website

just wondered if either anyone has used them before with
anything to say about their goods or any other ideas thats folks
have done before?

A defender has them under the seat as standard, maybe a Defender
battery box could be fitted to a series seat box?

Whatever you do, make certain that you put rubber on the
underside of the lid, and secure the battery fully to the
floor.............. You never know when an inversion may happen.

Mine has a home made one with welded angle to the chassis and a
hole in the floor.
Was a nice idea, but the first thing I did was to relocate it
back to its proper place as it was a serious pain to jump start
when in the garage.
Once I've tidied it up (rust!), I'll be putting a second battery
in there with a new fuse box, as I'm revamping all my electrics.

I used YRM for axle brackets for a lesser vehicle; well made
parts, top quality and finished nicely. Speedy service too, I
think I just ticked the "normal delivery" option and had them
quicker than the likes of the "addocks". I'd use them again
without hesitation. :thumbs:
I see for all you 109 SW'ers they are also doing side frames
too.

I have read good reports but never used them. I looked at their
sw side frame repair sections and concluded that full new ones
were as cheap (!) And a lot less hassle

I'm currently waiting for YRM to provide me with a prototype
driver's side version of their double battery underseat box. My
109" has a rear tank, station wagon/series 3 style, so the space
under the driver's seat is currently unoccupied. With the space
under the passenger's seat slightly more accessible, and the
weight better placed under the driver's seat I'm quite looking
forward to it.
With a bit of luck, if the one they make me is OK it'll be added
to their range of bits.
Obviously, if you've a fuel tank under your arse at the moment,
then there's no room for batteries as well!

Battery in under drivers seat is standard fit for Stage 1, so
would be a useful addition

mod my existing one to look something like, unless you are
wadded and take the pricey plunge and buy it now :o
