Weekend laning

On Saturday we made a little trip to nearby Beroun, for the
(re)opening ceremony of a small pre-WWII bunker built to guard a
ford across the Berounka river. Sadly the building is still far
from complete and so far they only managed to remove most of the
concrete that was poured in during the Red period here...
Then we followed friends to an offroading event close to Beroun,
but did not compete in the trialling sections - Jekyll has had
michaelwhite's gearbox fitted only recently and I didn't want to
test things doing trialling (silly excuse...). Photos:

being filled in with concrete:

Nice pics - as always! I have got a de-activated BREN (its a

version. When I was
in the Army and it was then known as the LMG (with 7.62 barrel
conversion) it was my favourite weapon - double tapping anyone?

De-activated weapons are gay :) It would be an interesting
experience once to have a go at shooting the real thing like you
did back in the army days, Mark, unfortunately automatic weapons
are not allowed here, unless you have a special licence - and if
you got it, you would have to look around a lot before you could
find a place where you could actually shoot bursts. Apparently
the locals around shooting ranges aren't comfortable here with
hearing automatic firing ;D

Automatic weapons are pretty much banned here too Jan - although
I believe there are certain pubs in the country where you can
obtain them - if you have the right contacts.......
:rolleye0012:
NOT that I do of course!

Afire engine springs to mind.My neighbour John has a deac Bren
he bought to mount on his Champ. He then built a replica of a
50cal and did a really good job of
it.[IMG]

Nice .50 cal, an impressive weapon - must be quite an experience
firing that beast for real. I remember firing a much smaller
Czech vz. 59 machine gun and that was something already.

Offroading is a bit of a farcry from the conservative, mostly
road-based route of our short trip this afternoon, I just didn't
want to create another meaningless a-few-photos-plus-short-text
topic (others are welcome to follow suit and post their weekend
photos in here).
So, a few of our photos, it was a bit chilly, but great seeing
the sun set despite the early hour.
