Ralph the Red Rover

After rolling Joyce my boing and daily driver and driving TET
for a couple of weeks with him drinking petrol like its going
out of fashion I needed something just a bit more sensible for
the daily commute, and then after looking at Disgays etc I found
Ralph
:giddy:[IMG]

He's a 1981 series 3 with a good 2a front panel and headlights
fitted, galv rear cross member, defender front seats and 2.5 n/a
out of a Sherpa
As brought he came fitted with Disgay rims and 205's which has
made for a slow ride to work, so fitted my spare 7.50's on
proper rims this morning, hopefully make it a bit better to
drive until I find some boingy diffs to fit too, he's a bit gay
with clear indicator lenses and gay plate but this will be
sorted out as and when honest

Yer its been getting a bit hot and using a bit of water lately,
flushed it all out earlier but think I'm getting a air lock
around the heater but not sure yet, didnt help the electric fan
was blowing the wrong way, after Toby fixed it as it wasn't
working to start with, and now been replaced with another fan
that blows towards the radiator now :smilewide:

After sleeping on it I remembered TET had a similar problem a
couple of years ago, and all that turned out to be was loose
cylinder head bolts, so this morning I set about checking the
head bolts on Ralph and most of them did need torquing up, been
on a couple of drives and all seems fine now, no lose of water
or getting anywhere near being too hot either :giddy:

Got a bit more done on Ralph these last couple of days before
works sends up oop north to blow stuff up with mortars for 2
weeks, flushed out the cooling system again as its still quite
rusty looking, still is now so to try and make it better I got a
nos unipart waterpump for the 2.5 sherpa lump to fit later on,
along with a series thermostat housing and thermostat as it's
currently still running without one, fitted the new plates and
orange indicator lenses earlier this week and went to swap the
rear diff with a boingy one I brought a Newbury last week, but
the drainplug didnt want to play :wanker: so popped over to
fentigers today to see what we could do, one chisel and hammer
later it was out so I set about swapping the diff over, when
Toby got board and set about building, from scratch  a new
battery box to move the battery under the seat from the rear
(did wonder what he was up to whilst I was underneath Ralph)
also moved the air filter location as the speed bolts holding it
onto the bulkhead came out this week to the front of the engine
bay, once we put it all back together and topped up the oils and
got rid of loads of crap battery cables had a test drive with
the new diff and I still cant believe the difference :giddy:
not the best pics as I left my camera behind and was dark when I
got
