Heater plugs

As I'm a complete spaktard when it comes to electrical stuff
does anyone have a diagram for dummies for wiring up heater
plugs on both a 2.25d and a 200tdi?
Cheers.

Hi Luke,
Are you wanting to use the proper glow plug relay, or is this a
wire to a big button job?
I aint no expert, but for what it's worth, we have two 200tdi'd
series II's, (that's a lot of 2's?) both of which are wired,
however, have never needed the glow plugs, even on the frostiest
of mornings?

I'm not sure about the proper relay :-\
I probably just need a simple wire to a button.
The 2.25 takes a lot of turning over to get it going and on a
cold morning it's not that good, I think the plugs will help it
immensely.
The 200tdi was good but is now shit. SH><.
On another note, will the 2.25d bleed it's own fuel system
without cracking an injector or summat? It seems a bit like the
fuel is maybe draining back to the tank when left for a while,
say over night, and it's having to pump it back up before it
starts,

Do they no wire to the starter switch? mine may not be standard,
but if i turn the key right it turns over the engine, turn it
left 1st stage it holds the glow plugs 2nd stage turns the motor
over.
If I hold the glows on for 30sec then turn it over it starts
right up.
mines a 2.25d

Sorry, you'll get a sore neck reading this, but I don't know how
to turn it around
This is how I've done mine, but can sketch the full key and
relay system if you want to go down that road?
Ken.

No. 2.25s will not self-bleed. ISTR RichP going on about this
problem ages ago. Evidently he didn't fix it and that's why he
sold the motor.

^^ Agree.
You can check the lift pump is working ok by a simple method,
and the dizzy pump can be sorted quite easily with new seals
etc, afetr that any lack of maintaining fuel at the jector ought
to be down to a pipe letting air in somewhere whether through an
'ole or bad connection.
Mine is running like an absolute cock at the moment but it
always starts.............
Lift pump check:
Immerse pump in a bah of parrafin and operate rocker arm several
times .
Hold up clear of bath and continue to operate rocker arm until
the pump is empty, then place a finger over the inlet port and
operate rocker lever several times. A distinct suction should be
heard whe nthe finger is removed from the inlet port denoting
that a reasonable degree of suction has developed.
Place a finger over the outlet port and again operate the rocker
arm. Air pressure should be felt for 2 to 3 seconds after rocker
movement has ceased. Build up the air pressure in the pump again
and with the finger held firmly over the outlet port submerge
the pump completely in the parrafin bath and observe the joint
faces for signs of air leakage..............................
Written for REME is suspect! ;D

:wanker:
So If it won't bleed itself then it can't be letting air in can
it? 'cos when it starts it's totally fine.
Would a dodgy lift pump give these symptoms? Surely the lift
pump is ok as it runs normal once going :-\

I could be wrong but the lift pump 'lifts' more than is
required, hence the tank return??
As I said I could be wrong, someone normally puts me right ;D
