BBQ on the Talyllyn with some Greenlanes or Chill time
       By: Adam R Date: September 20, 2012, 12:46 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Hi,
Just seeing if many folk are interested, Ive batted this idea
round with a few folk on here, and been told to put a post up. I
don't in any way want to step on the toes of the C.U.N.T.S.S who
organise cracking events like LATP, but I think it'd be a nice
weekend away, which would help the Talyllyn Railway get a few
       more visitors.
Would any folk and families be interested in a weekend camping
in Wales near the Talyllyn railway, if we put a special train on
on the Saturday evening for a BBQ with a BEER TENT up the line.
Train ticket cost will include food and the beer is cheaper than
at my local pub. All just for OLLR/ Leafer owners.
For those who want to go laning, there are far too many names to
mention, but we can get some maps, for differing abilities.
For folk who cant be arsed to go laning, I will try to arrange a
display where you can park up and show the motor off somewhere
in the public gaze on the railway, wherever this is...
I will try, pending availability, try to arrange a Diesel
locomotive and Passed Driver to supervise and for a small
donation to cover fuel and preparing the diesel etc, have a
chance to drive it yourself, It'll probably be the Hunslet if I
can wangle it, as its about on par with driving a Series Land
       Rover, with no steering wheel...
If we have a spare steam engine, I may also try to wangle that
too, it wont be much more in donation, but, i think it would
have to be a pre-book thing(pay on the day) to make it viable
       for the Talyllyn.
Can probably also arrange shed tours and such.
For the Mine explorers, there's potential to go underground at
Bryneglwys, Thorpey of this parish, knows that place best, with
       history lesson n all.
There's a big sandy thing i think most normal folk call a beach
and go sit on, if family don't want to chase trains all weekend,
and Loads of other things to do in the area. We can get a list.
Possible Fish and Chip run to take over some small unsuspecting
Village on the Friday night too if that's not too rivet
counterish and akin to a certain club for landrovers built after
       1958...
For the Walts among you, there are a few very interesting
military sites, both within a 15 minute drive of the railway.
       Website is here:
  HTML http://www.talyllyn.co.uk/
Its not the Series 1 rally, I was planning another time in the
       year pending feedback, for OLLR.
As the usual, if your interested can you copy n paste n that.
       Cheers!
PS Talyllyn has its own ale from the purple moose brewery. Mr
       Ross/ Welch, has sampled it...

That sounds like an excellent idea to me - and depending on
dates etc, then I would be up for it!

Somewhere in my stash, I have a pair of old "METAL" L plates,
with original string. I shall get hunting, and would hope to
make an appearance, this sounds like fun.

Yeah, was planning 2013 early ish before LATP and holiday season
       where it gets busy
We can get the FFRock up to the station if Ian can make it, or
we'll get the speakers out, bring an ipod and plug it in so we
       can have >rcker<
