"Right",said Dougal as we pulled out of Joskin's driveway,"where
are we going now?" " Home" said I. "Which way?" said Dougal.
"Oh" said I, "A17, A1, A57 etc." "Sod that" said Dougal "we're
laning home or I'll break down right now."
"But Dougal" said I, "we've just done a weeks Euroleafing around
France, some kwality laning around Bannegon and Le Vallee de
Loir, a little wine tasting for me and now it's time to go
home." "I don't care" said Dougal coming to a rapid stop and
stamping his o.s.f. 255x85 hard on the ground. "We're going
laning." "Yes Dougal" said I, "whatever you say." There's no
reasoning with him when he's in this frame of mind.

The building on the horizon is the Cat & Fiddle Inn, the second
highest(or first, depending on whom you believe!) pub in
England.

Hmmm, you went laning cos the Land Rover made you go.
I know it's pussy whipped if a woman makes you do it, what's the
term for a Landy making you do it?
More than a few years since I saw that place sitting on the
horizon too.

I think I remember seeing these before and I do believe the
centres have been turned back to front to give them a good
off-set...
I like'em. I think they do look good.

Almost. They are de-gayed disco centres with new rims fitted to
my spec. by Matt Lee.
The original plan was to have tubeless rims with more offset
fitted to standard LR centres, but when I 'phoned up to enquire
Matt said he had some disco wheels and would I be interested in
those instead at £40.00 each converted?Needless to say I said
"Yes!"
I had them made because of the raised land around the stud hole
which acts like a spring washer.I was running 900x16's on
eight-spokes but as I found to my cost, even with regular checks
of wheel-nut tightness with a torque wrench,eight-spoke stud
holes wear oval.
You don't get that problem with genuine LR centres.
Here endeth the lesson for today!

Cat and Fiddle's not the highest, if you beleive the Ordnance
Survey. Tan hill is at 528m AOD Cat and Fidlde is only 515m AOD.

And the Snowdon one is higher, and it does count as a pub as
they sell beer up there!
