Well, about time for an update as it has been 9 months! Stagey
has been doing the do. Disc brakes are a revelation and I would
heartily reccommend them to anyone.
Passed MOT in May with no real fuss, but engine has constantly
been down on power, despite endless attempts to tune the carbs
and the addition of electronic ignition. There is also a little
smoke on start up... :banghead
Everything appears to have settled in now and a couple of wheel
bearing are starting to let me know that they have stood for 22
years without too much use... :banghead
Leaving for Belgium and France in 10days, so have been giving it
a good check over and shakedown, including a 216 mile round trip
last Saturday. All fine, but still a lack of real power. So just
to add to the pre holiday pressure, I have decided to change the
engine. :smilewide: I have stumbled across what appears to be
an unused New complete MOD crate engine. All looks good and it
has never been run. So Saturday will see a little mileage to
collect it and this week the strip down will commence ready for
a Saturday fitting and change of wheel bearings. I just dont
completely trust the old engine, although it would probably
soldier on and get us there and back, but as anyone who knows me
will confirm, I like things to be right.

Sure did! If it turns out to be what I think it is, then it will
be a veritable bargain! Especially when they are normally £1500
+ the dreaded

Good luck with the engine swap... Nice to know I am not the only
one who likes things A1 before a long run!! What economy are
you returning on a motorway trawl?

At present, between 17-20mpg on a run. Hoping this will come up
a bit with a fresher engine. Current one is set up as best as I
can get it, but it isn't as it should be.

have a lot of grunt..
