in theory if a 200tdi can mate to a series box and that was
originally attached to an LT77 then it should be similarly
simple to mate the mpi to a series box - I don't think an LT77
is an option in the 80, my rear prop is already short and a
negative prop length is unlikely to be useful :o

using the Tomcat engine i think he had to change/modify the
backplate to carry the correct flywheel housing...
i'm not sure but i think he was a member on here, i found the
pictures originally on RetroRides, i've not looked at the mpi
myself so i've no idea of compatability

I remember the yellow one, it was awesome! On a B plate too,
must have been one of the last made?

Reading an old car mag last night and saw a good potential
       engine Tobe - 2.0 Turbo O Series from a MG Maestro/Montego Turbo
       - would in theory fit with a Prima adapter ring and could be
lots of fun, those MG turbos are fuckin rapid :o

The trick is to never mention the word 'turbo'. I think
mentioning that word sets off alarm bells and claxons in the
insurance call center. When I insured Nelson I described the
engine as a "Standard Diesel engine, from a early land rover
Discovery". That seemed to work ok! ;D

Had a bit of a google around and it looks like a non starter.
Bloody timing belt is open to the elements......
