Some more progress ... lots done, not much achieved
110 seatbox with new toolboxes (now 109 layout - the 110
passenger side toolbox hits the series chassis)

and the other side - this one the original 110 toolbox, with
batery tray added for the stage 1
All the holes that the 110 seatbox had that the stage 1 didnt
have been covered up and filled, and the new ones drilled to
match the stage 1 original
and with a coat of primer

seat frame bits cleaned up and painted for refitting once the
seatbox painting is done

painted with a high zinc primer

anti corrosion jointing compound applied

Next the doors - having failed to find new skins for the old
doors (which needed repairing) , went and bought two new doors
door frames with the skins removed

For various reasons decided to refit the old doors, so out with
the grinder and welder to repair them (new skins will be fitted
to the old doors ... an expensive way to get hold of some door
skins)

Are you having the powdery mounts chopped out and fresh ally
butt welded in?

Yep, the one that just escaped the picture on the left had prety
much gone completely
should be done now, just got to go piack it back up next week
then work out how to attach the under floor runners to the floor
tidily (welder wouldnt do them due to risk of warping the floor)

Safari truck cab and 3/4 tilt in the end. need a good S3 truck
cab for that first
Might put a full tilt on to begin with as im going to be pushed
to get it done for leafers (problem of painting utside so need
to wait for good weather) so will save some time not having a
truck cab to sort

Yep, decided a big diesel would be gay in a stage 1 so keeping
the V8

I hadn't thought about farming them out for welding, may do so
with mine when the time comes, if you don't mind me asking, what
price are you paying?

Quote was 250, but that included fabricating new top hat
sections under the floor (didnt need to as YRM sell them) and
welding them on, which isnt now been done. I would think bill
will be something arround 100 for the mounts
Will let you know when it comes back durign the week
And a bit more progress
Doors now have their crush tubes for the hinge bolts

Alex glad your keeping the V8, IMHO it's what makes a Stage 1
desirable :)
Out of interest how do you remove the skins off of the door tops
and door bottoms?
Having never done it I'm assuming all you do is bend the ali
back that is around the frame, as I will be looking at doing it
in the next month or so.
