North East Aircraft Museum.

Spent a day here with my dad (for his birthday treat). We even
had ice creams. Acting like excited kids all afternoonn.
Thought I'd share a few pictures, just a small selection of
whats there. It's not the best funded or organised museum in
the world, but I kind of like that...

Then the main event. Avro Vulcan XL319. Plus we got to go and
sit up top and pretend to fly it while making whooshing
noises...

8) The one just to the right of the USAF jet with the stripey
tailfin, is it one of those Argie ground attack jobbies, like
the SAS destroyed on the ground and Port Stanley?

Yup, its a Pucara, brought back from Port Stanley after the
spanking. Ive some more pics of it, but just posted a selection
on here.

That Vulcan is just awsome, love it.
It always suprises me how little you can actually see out of the
cockpit of many combat aircraft, not sure i would fancy
reversing that :eek:

They have a Vulcan, a Lightning, a Vampire and a Hunter. An air
museum really doesn't need any more exhibits to be pretty much
perfect for me.
The land stuff is a relatively recent addition, they all used to
be up in a museum in Newcastle, but the building they were in
was deemed unfit for use. So they merged.
I nearly did myself an unjury getting into the left seat of the
Vulcan, Its pretty small up there and Im not a slip of a lad.
Glad you enjoyed the pictures though folks.

The Vampire takes me back.... we had one parked up outside the
school CCF hut. I got to paint it one year as it had started
looking scruffy. Not sure it looked much better when I finished
- a 14 yo with a 4 in brush and a gallon of aluminium paint
.....

Great phots.
I remember having to to the aircraft recognition briefing for my
squadron (34 Field Sqn ,RE) prior to a Falklands deployment as I
was the only nerd in the place!
FMA Pucara's sound like angry wasps in shoe boxes in flight. ;D
