Semi floating axles and diffs

So i've changed the front diff on my series 1 and want to change
the rear that has a semi floating axle can any body give me a
dummies guide to doing it? I take it the brakes have to be
removed?

The pipes need to come out the slave cylinders and the drums
have to come off to get to the bolt heads but you dont need to
touch the shoes. Other than that its pretty straight forward.
Just undo the 6 bolts between the stub axle and case and pull
the lot out. Well you might have to hit the stub off the axle
case, its a tight fit and rusts up.

Thanks for the quick reply bob and yes it was rusted up I
couldn't see how it was joined together at first but the hammer
did the job.
I had enough length on the copper brake pipes to straighten them
out as the half shafts were seperated so no need to touch the
brakes.
New diffs in and what a difference. :smile1
