My Fleet....
By: BEY C Date: August 21, 2012, 4:04 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Proper hello to OLLR....
Attached pictures of my current fleet, 1965 Series 2a (the
Marine blue one and now the rolling chassis) and a 1958 Series 2
(Green)...
Was using BEY 627C up until a couple of months ago when she blew
a (prima) turbo on the old coach road (I see other pictures of
that trip lurking around the forum)..... What started as taking
a wing of to get access to the engine has no led to a new
chassis and rebuild! The Prima is gone to a new home and she is
going back as a 2.25d, not fast but will be great for the lakes
lanes. Hope to have her back on the road in a month or two (the
bulkhead was pretty rotten it turns out so there is some welding
to be done)... The chassis is being replaced because frankly I
have been kidding myself for three years that it had been well
repaired by PO's, it hadn't I am a fool (a much poorer fool now
:2mo5pow:)..
UAX is a 1958 S2 on a Marsland chassis about 10 years ago, I got
her after the sad passing of her previous owner and she is now
living at my folks place in Inverness (awaiting MOT exemption as
I am to cheap to pay for 3 months).... Since I got her a few
months ago I have sorted out the thin air that was once a
passenger footwell and bulkhead foot and entirely (apart from 2
inches) replaced a seriously rotten top rail, that has
apparently been in that condition since 1976! I have fixed the
brakes, replaced the exhaust and generally greased and
lubricated the dried out bits... She has a recon 2.25d and runs
like a dream and all in all is a cracking motor. At some point
in the near future I will swap landies over for a bit and give
UAX a run through the lakes with the S1 boys (closer in age)....
And then to this Saturday when I go to have a look at potential
S2 number 3, so watch this space...

Been a while.... Completed the fleet with a 1962 Dormi and it is
the nuts! Engine needs to come out at some point for some new
seals (don't they all) and it needs some light TLC as it is
going around Europe this Summer (Old skool travelling)..
Sitting in front of my 65' or rather the rolling chassis of my
65' last seen arriving at Ripon with Jim and leaving with
Robin...

The 65' will be finished for Spring laning and the 58' will be
finished in a couple of weeks and then will probably get moved
on... (Do I need 2 diesel 88's??)
Still not sure about petrol though, it is the devils fuel!
Diesels just run, all my diesels going back to my first S3 one,
just ran, petrols are touchy in comparison!

I love the Dormi having seen a few pics, but I was very jealous
of the '58 as I was VERY tempted to take it on... to be honest I
am glad I didn't because I really don't have the time or money!

The 58' has been some work right enough... Major bulkhead
surgery, brakes, exhaust, under body supports, electrics... But
being on a galv chassis with a peach of an engine, well worth
it! It is beautifully Triggers Broom, but has been for around
40 years... It has taken four journeys to inverness and is being
finished by a a fellow nut this week (last few jobs), so
probably a good call calum!
The dormi was one of those once in a life finds, just need an
80" to tick my list off (preferably a rat).
