Hallo und Guten Tag from Leicester
   DIR By: Landrolaf2a

       ---------------------------------------------------------
Hello and guten Tag! Got the Forum spam mail under my wiper
today at Old Manor, Leicester, probably from the owner of the
nice soft top 2a next to my 1963 2a hard top (my GF called it
'love letter'...) - thanks for that! Unfortunately we missed
him/her, had a couple questions already.... Was about to join
before since the page came up during searches a few times. I'm
surprised to be accepted to log in even without the confirming
email - and as a tschermen (you didn't check that, did you....
too bad... now, bring on the Basil-quotes!!!) ... Good for you!!
Got the truck a few weeks ago and bringing it back to original
as much as possible, so far mainly cosmetic (defender seats out
(what's that all about...? where do you put your legs...?) bench
seats in, Land Rover Green insight and out, not mixed with
desert sand insight, de-rust chassis, refurbished wheels and
better tyres etx.). MOT is coming up and I am slightly worried..
steering wanders quite a bit, brakes need a 5 minutes warning
and the diesel needs 15-12 minutes to stop smoking on start up..
is slow, weak and noisy but hey, could be worse... The chassis
and BH looks great though. Since I PERSONALLY rebuilt the QE2 in
1986 in my former life as a mechanic (steam engine out,
diesel-electric in, new middle section etx) this should be a
piece of cake as you say....? ok, I was only an apprentice but
still... Anyway, ended up in glorious Leicester as an academic
and needed something to stop me from committing suicide... so
there it is on my drive demanding constant attention, competing
with the 10 year old V70... and my dayjob I suppose. Anyway,
enough of the pleasentries. I am officially taking over this
forum. Cos that's what we do, ya know. ...some before and after
pics attached. If you'd come this far, thanks a lot and I'm
looking forward to join in. cheers.

Glad you got the flyer Olaf :smile1, Mrs. Kev & myself nipped
into the Manor for some grub, after a little undercover
       redsocking trip to Bradgate park.
It's always nice to see anther leafer when we're out and about.
       - We're only up the road from the Manor so our paths will
       probably cross again.
Enjoy the forum, - but don't take it too seriously! (I did once,
but I think I got away with it...) >Htlr<

Wilkomen ...and as long as you leaf Poland alone this time
...we'll get along just fine ....
Nice looking series and hopefully it'll float better than that
bath tub you worked on last ...Was it the Titanic >tnking<
Now Drag up a chair and enjoy the beer >rock<

Thanks for the welcome chaps, and Kev for the flyer! Had a map
from the previous owner indicating that some green laning
possible at the Manor but all fenced off, so no floating test
possible ... but not giving up yet... water comes in mainly from
the top anyway... looking forward to a united invasion of
leafers somewhere, doesn't necessarily has to be Poland this
time.... I'm flexible ... the QE2 made it out the dock that time
       so why shouldn't we?

The ford? - yep it's gated thanks to the local chavulation using
it as a dumping ground for cars. :wanker:
Plenty of other laning to be had round here though. ;-)

...yes, looked like the gates were rather new...there are some
other stretches marked on the map and will try those soon. Since
we are chatting, I'm interested in a close up of how your static
belts are fitted. Any chance of posting some pics of how they
are attached on the rear bulkhead and what fixings are used? I
know its hiddeous but GF insists on seat belts... where would be
the forum section for that? I figured that I need the brackets
in the seatbox/door corner but to be able to remove the hard top
I don't want to use the top corner brackets. Also, since I
ripped out the defender seats, in what section could I offer
       them? Cheers, Kev.
