Excellent coversion, Kev!...can,t wait to see
it in Czech!
I don't think he has plans to paint it or to cover it in a woven
patterned textile.

BACK IN THE GAME!!

I ended up having to get the injector pump rebuilt
probably cheaper to find a second hand one, but I figured most
Mongtedos and Maestros are old and high mileage now and I'd
likely be back to square one. I sold one of my trailers and
borrowed a bit of cash to pay for that, then the pump was away
for over a fuggin week which is why this thread has been dead
quiet.
Anyway with the pump back I fitted a new cambelt, tensioner and
idler (piece of cake) and it ran like a champion! :giddy:
Next I sorted the exhaust, I will be getting a nice custom
system at some point but with time against me I decided to use
what I had to do the CZ trip.
I bought a new Montego downpipe and using some offcuts of 2.25
exhaust joined it up to the 2-litre petrol system. Job done!
I ran out of pipework to sort the air filter so I improvised
with a chav filter from the bargain bin at Halfords (bought with
Munkie's trade card so was five quid!) and a bendy rubber pipe
from a old Peugeot. Doesn't look that great but isn't that noisy
so it'll do for now.

The Kenlowe is fitted but not wired up yet, she sits at 75-80
degrees which I think is about right but I'll wire the fan in
this week I think.
Today was the first longish run, 43 miles to work and it didn't
miss a beat! It's pretty rowdy but then again it's an 80 with a
direct injection diesel dropped in it so it is never going to be
refined. I would say it goes like a good 2.25 petrol, starts
well and doesn't smoke at all. A BL-loving friend at work said
it sounded just like a Montego
I did have to adjust the clutch a tad earlier, looking at it
there's a fair bit of wear in the linkage so some new pins and a
cross-shaft might be in order.

I'm proper pleased with it and even more so that I've done the
whole lot myself, I even welded the exhaust and did the
electrics :o I avoid welding like the plague but had to do it
as part of my courses at college so I put some pigeon shit on
the joints to stop them falling apart. Next stop Czech!!

I feel the ratchet strap is in keeping with the general shatness
Thanks for the comments folks - ear plugs are on order!
MIke we are kind of thinking of a S1 trip to Newquay with mine
and my mate's 86 (and probably the Munkiemobile) later in the
summer, I'll let you know and we can meet up!

Cool, hopefully I'll be here (I work month on, month off
offshore, I'm home June, away July etc), I'd love to meet up if
I am. I could show you the Levant mine track if you have time.
