Today was a bit slow going, I discovered the oil leak from the
bellhousing was a stripped thread in one of the bolts which
holds the clutch release housing on so stripped that all out.
Didn't fancy taking the bellhousing off again so decided to tap
the hole out and put a oversized bit of threaded bar in. Nyloc
on the end to match the others, new gasket, filled the gearbox
up and job's a goodun. Means there's one odd sized nut but who
       cares.

One problem with later gearboxes in 80s is that the bulge for
the 2.25 starter motor hits the bulkhead. This gives some nasty
vibrations which on a diesel are even worse. Lots of 80s seem to
have big holes cut in the bellhousings as a result and mine is
now no different! I bashed a bit of plate to the right shape and
drilled n' tapped it in place with plenty of sealant underneath.
The Prima conversion plate covers the other hole but I will
knock something up to cover/seal it as well and I have a rubber
bung for the bottom hole. The Prima's timing case isn't sealed
so it's not like I'll be extreme off-road monging any way. The
hole isn't that big by the way!

  HTML http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd267/kevatwork/P1010060-8.jpg[/img]
Then I changed the gearbox mounts, these rubbers aren't cheap
and so when I first got it on the road I didn't bother changing
       them.
Bearing in mind before I got it, it had sat in a shed for 30
years, the old rubbers must be very old indeed and they were
totally knackered. I don't think the previous owner ever
serviced it (I'm not joking) so if the gearbox has never been
out (likely with 47,000 on the clock) they might even be the
originals. I'll be interested to see how long the new ones last!
This took quite a while as the steel tubes the bolts pass
through were very corroded and needed a lot of cleaning up and
       freeing off the old rubbers.

After (another) cup of tea I took the 2.25-type mounts off the
Prima, bolted on the new ones (copied from the set Luke made for
his 80) and set about putting it in.

Considering I was on my tod it went in very easily, the crane
did help somewhat!! A bit of jacking on the gearbox and it
       bolted up like a champion.

The driver's side mount needs a bit of fettling tomorrow and I
need to figure out how to mount the alternator, looks like I'm
going to have to move the battery tray forwards a smidge to
clear it but hopefully nothing drastic. The oil filter is very
close to the diff housing so it looks like my suspicions were
correct and I'll have to invest in a remote filter set up.

Sorry for the lack of updates, the card reader went on the blink
but appears to be working now.

Playing with hoses. The rubber bits are all standard SIII hoses
       just cut to fit.

And that's how far I got, I did drive it around the farm with a
big grin but there's a busted nipple on the return union of the
injector pump which is pissing out - I'm glad it's that tho as I
first thought it was the throttle spindle leaking.
Still quite a bit to do, knock up a temporary exhaust, refit the
floor, fit the Kenlowe, fit an air filter etc so there will be a
few evenings next week methinks. Off to Sussex today so no
       Landying.
