Well I've finally got a week off, so I'm putting my Prima in
this week.
Quick recap - After the 2 litre died I looked at rebuild prices
:o :o :o and decided to go diesel for a few years and enjoy the
thing. A few months ago Landyboy and I put a 2.25 diesel in it,
I'm a big fan of these engines but unfortunately the engine I
had shat itself on the way home. :haha:
After a lot of messing about and spending money getting the head
rebuilt etc etc, it still ran like shit and I wasn't very happy
with the way it fitted so I slammed the bonnet shut and left it.
After a good old think and a go in a 1951 80 with a Prima
fitted, I decided to go this route and found an engine with
fitting kit on the S1 forum.
First job today was to strip the floor out, take the front panel
out and hoist out the dead two-and-a-quarter.

This was then robbed of alternator, engine mounts (which are JAW
804's) and the brand new clutch before being banished from the
shed FOR EVER
Then I got the Prima from it's snug home in the rear tub and set
about it. Pretty clean, though the previous owner told me it had
an oil leak from the flywheel housing, so I set about stripping
it back.

New block-housing gasket

All back together.

The 2.25 had been in for around 300 miles and completely
plastered everything with black ming. So I cleaned up the engine
bay a bit.

Nice one Kev!
I think I prefered mine with the prima in compared to the Tdi.

Proper nice Kev.
The prima just seems a "right" conversion for it. Looking
forward to tomorrows update.
