       Peak District August Bank Holiday
By: AllanI Date: July 25, 2012, 3:37 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
In response to recent developments regarding Roych , Chapelgate
and Long Causeway (Stanage Edge) the TRF, Peak District Vehicle
User Group and other organisations are looking at a day of
touring the picturesque Derbyshire villages such as Pilsley and
Great Longstone on the tarmac routes available. This may result
in some traffic congestion in the places visited and attract
       attention to the cause.

I can see the temptation, but I'm not sure what this will
achieve, other than making many more people hate 4x4 vehicles.
I think we would be better protesting outside the homes of
various peak park officers... (personally I feel like making
them a present of a gallon of petrol and a lighted match each,
but that might cause a certain amount of trouble with other
       authorities...)

Won't a load of :gay: invading sensitive areas just wind up
       the yokals?
Perhaps OLLR should take the more sensible option and visit
(different day) in our old standard trucks and stop and offer
tea n cakeage to the locals?

Hmmm...I agree something needs to be done to draw attention to
the blatant discrimination against us visiting these places, but
upsetting the locals might not be the best bet.
If only a mass-trespass would be feasible, as per the Ramblers
       last century... :-\

Yes this is the idea to draw attention to the fact that without
the lanes traffic is forced onto other minor routes which happen
to be tarmaced. It is the very locals who have been most
vociferous in wanting "their" lanes closing who don't seem to
realise that roads are there for all to travel on.
This is not a load of boingies. The TRF Trail Riders Fellowship
are a responsible body and I can't think of anyone under 40 in
       PDVUG.
A campaign to target members of the PDNPA board is another
       course of action being taken.

So we all drive around their pretty little villages on the
tarmac roads? Excellent! IFLI! I think we should support this
and if I'm not on call that weekend I'll join in.
As Allan says, it'll piss them off but then if we aren't using
the lanes they can't complain about that and on tarmac we're
just like any other road using tourist type so they might think
about what they've caused by getting lanes closed.
I hope a plague of gayers descend on these villages and infect
the inhabitants with bumaids. The stuck up gits!

Allan is there anywhere posting information on this? It does
seem like a jolly good wheeze. I'm not too sure they would get
       it though?
But it will need quite a bit of organising by someone :-\
A mass protest of peaceful lane invasion to parody the original
Red Sock Revolution mass trespasses might also work.

The Peoples Spiney Norman ^^^ might have something here. We
could all dress up as Edwardian Byway users and distribute cake
and Earl Grey served in the finest porcellain to the local
populace as an act of LOVE :-*
They would then dispel all their bile laiden, self centred,
nimbyist, tiny minded, tight fisted, inward looking, onesided,
red sockery and shout Hurrah lets keep the lanes open for King
       and Country.

Guys, something is happening this weekend. I am away and am not
fully aware of what is taking place. If more info is required
suggest contacting the TRF. Apparently the PDNPA and Derbyshire
police are"concerned". What is going to happen? Well something
       needs to!
