Bollocks. Help!

KWD's gearbox just grenaded without warning. :( Half way home
from work, massive bang, horrible noises lots of juddering and
then a few seconds later no drive in any gear except 4th (which
works but makes really unhappy noises).
This is a massive "Oh Cock" as it's my only working vehicle as
Nelson is currently undergoing lots of repairs. Does anyone have
a decent 2a box in good order somewhere up north near Preston?
I'm a bit fucked as I don't have anyway to come and collect it
though.
What a disaster. :(

Didn't we just put a new box in it last year at Nats? ???

Yep. So it's got even less excuse for exploding. I guess my
gearbox building skills are not so hot.

I have three like that with fucked layshafts or bearings. (I
managed to not kill the earliest box in my collection yet)I am
going to buy one locally this weekend, but it was for me to
rebuild...... I could lend it to you for the time it takes for
you to get sorted, I have no idea of the condition, only that it
came with a 3 litre Ford V6 attached, and that's why it's
surplus to the current owner..... the engine went into a TVR....
Or if it's any good, you could buy it off me, but I would need
one back that's a similar age and serial number! Or ideally a
reasonably complete 251 prefix, A suffix 1961/2 unit please!

Hopefully have it out tomorrow after work assuming I can find an
engine crane somewhere. I don't fancy lifting it out on my own!
I'm going to try and whip the bellhousing off and just see if
it's mendable. Save for a few shiny flakes of metal no debris of
any worth came out with the oil. As such my suspicion is that
the layshaft has snapped in two. In which case it might be
fixable. If not I will be taking someones offer of a new box up.
In other news, those bolts that go in the corner of the seatbox
where the seatbelt anchors are... I hate them. I really really
despise them, what a complete cunt to get out they were, and
they've only been in a year! Twats! No knuckles left and lots of
swearing got them out in the end! :haha:

Take the Overdrive off first, I know it's extra work, but it'll
give you more room to get the box out and it'll weigh less!

Good call, I need to get it off to get the speedo cable out
anyway (what a stupid design that is!).
