Welding weapon of choice

Chaps, I'm possibly in the market for a single phase welder.
I've been happily using my house mates Clarke 160 machine, but
he's off farming for the rest of the summer and is taking the
welder with him.
So, I'm looking for a decent single phase (that will run off a
13 amp socket) MIG. What do you folk own, and what would you
recommend? Ideally I need something fairly portable as I will
be moving around the country a fair bit over the next couple of
years.
Any advice?

I'm quite pleased with my Weld Wizard 200, lovely wire feed,
feels like a quality piece of kit and the guy who builds them is
on the migwelding.co.uk forum.
Wasn't cheep at a shade under 600 notes, but you get what you
pay for.

Cebora 150 turbo
separate bottle, takes big reels if you need them, good wire and
gas control and has been reliable for the past 10 summers 8)

I use a Clarke 150te turbo, takes big reels of wire and has
been brilliant for the price :thumbs:

IFL 170 from weldequip. Same sort of price as Lucy's machine,
but it's inverter driven rather than transformer driven. Very
impressive bit of kit, very portable at just 18kg plus 5kg wire
spool. It also has a DC arc welding output and leads, and can
drive a DC tig torch.
I used to have a Clarke 151 set before the IFL, it was very good
for the money (£160 new), but I'd never want to go back now I've
got used to having a semi-pro machine.

Like to use our huge 3 phase 400 amp BOC ark welder at work if i
can. Strikes up nice even down on 20 amps. Have an old Top weld
arc at home that will push a 4mm rod for about an 30 mins. Only
weld the bulkhead these days as i had new chassis not long
ago.....one of those 30 quid jobs from Aldi is fine for gentle
patching though.....

first question how much can you afford spend? Thats the best

Thanks for the replies everyone!
I use the monster mig machines at work, and I'm aware i'm
probably not going to get anything as good in the single phase
hobby market.
To be honest, I don't want to spend too much. This is really
only going to be a temporary solution so I can finish welding
Nelsons bodywork together. I'd love to splash out on a proper
machine like Lucy's, but unfortunately thats well out of my
price range currently. I'd prefer to get something (possibly
secondhand) for now that isn't going to cost me much more than
£250.
One day I will get a proper piece of kit, but for now I think
I'll have to make do with something cheap and cheerful. I'll
mostly be using it to stitch bodywork together, so heavy duty
work hopefully.

How many hours work does Nelson need? If you stick some of that
stash of B20 in Bitsa's fuel tank to cover me driving up, I'll
happily head over with my welding rig in tow one saturday (or
couple of Saturdays if needs be), and give you a lift to get it
glued back together...
