Unleaded fuel additive necessary???

Any thoughts about this?
I don't know any history about the engine in The Shed, and have
been running it on unleaded petrol.
However, I wonder if I should be using some additive in the fuel
- presuming it hasn't been converted to unleaded.
Is it critical? How long will it last without additive or a
conversion?
Where's the cheapest place for additive?

I wouldn't bother it'll take thousands of miles to do damage
that you'll notice, when it needs doing then do it :thumbs:

I wouldn't bother to be honest. If and when the valve seats
actually recede, you will probably be able to afford a
reconditioned unleaded head purely on the money saved from not
buying lead replacement additive.

I would agree,
you will be talking 10's of thousands of miles before it becomes
a problem, and for £250 you can get an unleaded converted head,
chances are its cheaper just to swap the head and not bother
If youplan on leaving it until the valves recede, then keep an
eye on the tappets
If you end up changing the head gasket it could be a good time
to get the seats changed, then you know its fine from then on

This weekend, I am of course removing the head to do the gasket.
Is there any way I could identify if the head has already been
converted?
