So There We Were...

…bimbling along towards home in Rose

when we pull over to let an oncoming vehicle pass and the engine
stops and won't restart. We are sat outside this little cottage
on one of the backroads home trying to get her started when the
owner of the cottage comes over to offer help. Turns out he has
5 ,all pre 1967,rovers sat in various sheds around his Tardis of
a house. So after getting Rose started again ( hand over carb to
get a bit more fuel in) we back up into his drive and take a
grand tour, He has a V8 powered SWB that he is removing the
engine from to put it back to stock, a diesel which he is
removing to replace with a petrol and an unmolested early 50's
80" 1600.
A real and genuine enthusiast who offered help when we needed it
and was a pleasure to talk too.
Two things bugged me though. Last week he sold a LWB SII, taxed
and MOT'd for £400 which is the type i'm after and secondly the
bloke in the big tricked out blue gay boingy who we know did not
even slow down to offer help!
One gentleman contact made and one utter ,utter wanker who is
going to find a spud up his exhaust pipe next time I see his
crime against taste!
