Britpart rear swb drums. Any problems?

Hello
I have just fitted new pipes, cylinders, shoes and drums to the
Series 3.
Twin cylinder on the front. No problem at all.
Rear drums catch the shoes as they are machied differently
inside.
Anybody else had this??

Erm if you have not introduced yourself properly please do it it
now before an angry whirlwind hits you!
As far as your drums are concerned you have invested in sewage
and are holding shit-this is an excremental, unalterable truth!

Thats Shitpart for you..You could buy 20 drums and they would
all be machined diferently inside.....They will also score to
fuck in a week and the friction material may come off the
shoes......buy some life insurance...

hello and welcome^^^ what they said I'm afraid. I too was the
victim of the blue oval brake drum. Take them back and try to
source another brand. There are a few out there.

Returned to shed are convinced myself the old drums weren't
actually that bad after all.
Cleaned the lip off the inner edge, and cleaned them up with a
flap disc.
Put them on and now have brakes.

P.A.Blanchard have/had some genuine Land Rover 10 inch drums
not long ago, ex dutch army.

Interesting thread.
I've not long bought my Landrover and judging by the box of
spares that came with it, the previous owner fitted a lot of
BritPart spares to it.
Mine looks to have all new brake drums, and initially I thought
that was good.
But, one (or more?) of the drums must be oval as you can feel
the brake pedal pulsing as you brake.
It's not too bad, and the brakes do work okay. Is this
something that I can just put up with? or would an over zealous
MOT tester fail it for having a slightly oval brake drum?
And is there any way, short of substituting one at a time to
work out which one is oval? I've taken them all off one at a
time (to check the state of the brake shoes) and I measured each
with a vernier caliper and couldn't measure any ovality, so
perhaps the problem is ecentricity rather than ovality?

...if they're Britpart they can range from very usable to total
shite....it would be no surprise if they were either oval or
non-concentric :(

I have mentioned my problem to the vendor of said Britpart drums
and they have sent two replacements.
These are Bearmach.
Are these the same in a different box or is Bearmach a better
brand?

I find Bearmach are better generally.
I've been bitten by britpart in the past and don't use them for
important parts unless I can avoid it, but I have heard reports
saying that stuff is much better now?
